Divine Truth is true for everyone
Last summer, my kids and I planned to bike to the community pool. As we gathered our bags and helmets, my younger daughter enthusiastically shared a healing experience that had been conveyed by her Christian Science Sunday School teacher. The main idea was that, regardless of the situation, God’s comfort is constantly available, and we can’t be separated from God, divine Love.
Christ Jesus knew that God was his Father, so his ability to comfort came from God and brought light and healing to adverse situations. And he said, “I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever” (John 14:16). Mary Baker Eddy acknowledged Jesus’ promise in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, noting, “This Comforter I understand to be Divine Science” (p. 55).
So, on that warm summer day, we mounted our three-person bike and set off. But soon, I lost my balance and sent everyone flying. The kids were OK, but I was banged up, and my wrist felt damaged. We moved the bike out of the street, and as I sat on the curb, I remembered the spiritual insight our daughter had shared earlier. I soaked up the truth that God was loving me right then and there.
