Reality check
The all-goodness and infinitude of God mean that any discordant condition is ultimately an illusion.
I was heading upstairs in my townhouse, and when I got to the landing, I saw a dark spot on the carpet. It was a new white carpet that we had recently installed. As lovely as it was, I had already learned that it took work to keep it white.
I grabbed the carpet cleaner and a rag, then got down on the floor where I’d seen the spot. But where did it go? I couldn’t find it anywhere. As I was moving around, though, it reappeared. I soon realized that the dark spot was nothing more than a shadow caused by light from a window high above. When my body blocked the light streaming in, the spot disappeared. The carpet was as white and beautiful as it had always been, so no cleaning was needed. On my next trip upstairs, I was not fooled by the dark spot because I knew the truth: It wasn’t a reality but an illusion.
Christian Science reveals that all discordant situations and conditions are illusions.
