Christian Science rocked my world
Almost forty years ago, I came to a crossroads in my life. I had graduated from university and was looking for employment, but the search had been disappointing and unfruitful.
I was living in Toronto, working as a waitress and taking acting classes. I discovered that I had a talent for improvisation, and sketch comedy was very popular at that time. The acting coach I studied with encouraged me to pursue my talent but also suggested that I get vocal training. He connected me with a vocal coach, and soon I was taking weekly classes.
I was facing many challenges during this time, particularly feeling directionless in life. In my vocal classes, I always ended up crying. In response, the coach demonstrated such poise. I felt that he had “something” that I wanted; I just didn’t know what it was.
