Good health can be deceptive health if it lulls us into believing that well-being is a material state we’ve earned through material habits, heredity, or good fortune.
Being alert to minor situations and using them as practice opportunities prepares me for the times when I am tempted to be afraid. Then when something like this comes up, I am and receptive to the spiritual truths that God is sending me.
I had been able to help the groundhog because I had recognized the spiritual qualities it represented, and I could carry this lesson forward in my daily practice.
Could I really choose how I felt about my big pile of homework? I remembered that I was used to listening to God about a lot of other things, and that every time I did, I would get ideas or happier feelings or whatever I needed, and that always turned the situation around.
It came to me to start a spiritual exploration project: I would read Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy cover to cover; I would also read the four Gospels in order to learn more from Jesus’ life and his practice of spiritual healing.
I saw that true vision comes from a single-minded trust in God and His laws as explained in divine Science. As this trust grows, our whole body will be filled with the radiance of Christ, Truth.
