> Lisa Rennie Sytsma, “What are we assuming?” Sentinel, November 11, 2024
The analogy likening temptations based on false beliefs and assumptions to invasive species really stuck with me. I was pondering these ideas when I pulled a muscle. I quickly recognized this as an invasive mental species. Later, I was tempted to rely on the warm water in the shower to ease the discomfort in my back. Again, my thought was reined in by ideas from this editorial. I wouldn’t nurture an invasive plant in my garden by watering or fertilizing it. So why would I nurture a mental invasive species? I “yanked it out” by not giving it another thought, acknowledging the presence of God, and the discomfort vanished. Thank you for all the wonderful periodicals!
Debi Brandt, Winthrop, Maine, US
