Selfless love heals fear and flu symptoms
Early in the pandemic in March 2020, a group of managers at the Christian Science nursing facility where I work made a commitment to pray for the world and for our facility for two hours every morning. As a Christian Science nurse and one of those managers, I took this assignment to heart.
One day, while listening for divine direction in my prayers, I received a phone call from the president of our facility. He asked if I would consider living at the facility for the next two weeks, since, as the director of a department, it was important for me to be present during such times. But my heart sank because it had never been easy for my husband and me to be separated. I asked God to help me be willing.
My eyes fell on words written across the top of an interoffice envelope, “Cross out previous address,” and they felt like a message just for me. I was awestruck! I felt so loved and tenderly chastened, as though God was clearly telling me that I would have a new address for the next two weeks. After this, I was willing. I soon called my boss back and told him I would make the temporary move.
