God, prayer, and a successful career path
After college I was certain I wanted a problem-solving career in business, but I had no idea what field of business to pursue. I had learned from my study of Christian Science that God, the divine Mind, is our true employer, and that our purpose is already established in this Mind for us to learn of and put into practice.
Rather than analyze the pros and cons of various career options, I obeyed this instruction from the Bible: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5, 6).
I knew that regardless of the work I would be doing, my true purpose was to express God. So I humbly prayed to be shown where I could best use my spiritual qualities and talents to benefit others and to keep learning and growing.
