Illness isn’t inevitable
The Bible, which I study to deepen my understanding of God, assures us, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (II Corinthians 3:17). My growing understanding of God as Spirit and each of us as God’s spiritual idea has enabled me to experience freedom from illness, fatigue, fear, and more. One summer as we celebrated Independence Day in the United States, I witnessed this spiritual liberty.
I had recently moved to Boston and planned to celebrate with friends, watching fireworks along the Charles River. However, I developed flu-like symptoms and was unable to leave my apartment.
Having experienced healing through Christian Science before, I felt a deep conviction that I could regain health by relying on God. On that day, I was having difficulty maintaining consciousness and knew I needed spiritual support, so I called a Christian Science practitioner (someone whose career is dedicated to praying for those seeking healing through Christian Science). I asked this practitioner to provide Christian Science treatment, and she confirmed that she would begin praying right away.
