Overthrow the supposition
Most of us have at some time felt overwhelmed by a situation we were facing—perhaps an illness, a troubled relationship, or a financial struggle. I certainly have felt that way. But several years ago I learned that no matter how solid and impenetrable a problem looks, it can yield readily to a clearer understanding of the allness of God.
When our dog had a baseball-size growth on her neck, my husband took her to a veterinarian, who said there was nothing he could do. He said he’d seen this kind of problem many times before and was convinced that even if he operated, the tumor would grow right back.
At that point it would have been easy to feel defeated, as the growth looked substantial and threatening. Our dog was a beloved member of our family, and I was deeply concerned about her. But because I had experienced many healings through the practice of Christian Science, I knew we could trust the power of the divine Mind to heal our dear pet.
