Decisions, opinions, and the Gamaliel test
A daughter announces she is leaving school to pursue a career in acting. A son informs his parents he is going to “pop the question” to his girlfriend of one month. A recent college graduate would rather spend time building a robot than searching for a good job.
When dealing with adult children at moments such as these, it’s tempting to become emotional, take a side, and push for our own will in the matter. But our opinions, however well-intentioned, don’t necessarily bring light to a situation. This I know all too well.
I needed to get myself out of the way and let God take charge.
