Child’s prayer heals headache
I was about twelve years old, and we were visiting friends of my mother’s and riding in the car. As I sat in the back seat, I felt a headache coming on. Soon the pain became quite severe. I had never had a headache like that before, but I knew it was something I could pray about and find healing.
As a student in the Christian Science Sunday School, I had learned that God is totally good and that everything He creates is good. I reached out to God in prayer, reasoning that since the headache wasn’t good, it wasn’t from God, so it didn’t belong to me as His loved child.
I didn’t mention the headache to anyone, though it kept getting more intense as we drove along. I just kept praying with what I knew to be true, that since God didn’t create a headache, it couldn’t be part of God’s expression, me, so I didn’t need to accept it.
