Meaningful healings over the years

I find it helpful to affirm daily, or more than daily, these ideas stated in the first chapter of Genesis: “God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.... And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” (verses 27, 31). God never made man, His spiritual offspring, subject to anything but good.

These truths, along with so many others found in the Bible and in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, have helped me find healing for problems of many sorts over the years.

For instance, soon after I was introduced to Christian Science forty years ago, I was healed of allergies I’d suffered from since I was very small. The healing took place as I came to a fuller understanding of this passage in Science and Health: “What an abuse of natural beauty to say that a rose, the smile of God, can produce suffering!... It is profane to fancy that the perfume of clover and the breath of new-mown hay can cause glandular inflammation, sneezing, and nasal pangs” (p. 175). God, good, could never enable His spiritual creation to cause or suffer harm.
