Healed on a study abroad trip
I couldn’t have been more excited—I was off to Greece, Italy, and Turkey for eight weeks to study art and philosophy with 21 other students from my college. I was ready to explore ancient ruins, learn how to paint and draw, read philosophical texts in their birthplaces, and of course, soak in the sun at the beach!
One morning during the first week of our abroad, I was painting outside under the sun. When I returned to the hotel later that afternoon, I noticed that I had developed rashes, which I thought might be from the heat, all over my shins. Although they didn’t hurt or itch, they were obnoxious-looking.
I thought that if I just waited, the rashes would disappear. However, when they were still there the next morning—unimproved—I knew I needed to do something.
