Witnessing to God’s healing power

The Wednesday testimony meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist, provide a unique opportunity to publicly share accounts of spiritual inspiration and healing that have occurred through the study and practice of Christian Science.

As a child, I enjoyed attending these meetings with my father and grandmother. Although I often wanted to tell of my healing experiences, and I’m sure the adults there would have loved to hear from me, timidity kept me from sharing. Finally, as a middle school student attending a summer camp for children of Christian Scientists in a different state, I was able to stand up in the local branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and give my first testimony. Since then I have felt comfortable speaking in praise of God’s care and guidance in many different branch churches.

My precious grandmother, who brought Christian Science into our family and practiced its healing teachings throughout her long life, never felt able to give a testimony at a Wednesday testimony meeting. However, every year at the Thanksgiving Day service (held in Christian Science churches around the world), when deep gratitude outweighed her timidity, she stood up to express her gratitude to God.
