Injuries from a fall healed

I was in my apartment when I heard the sound of a siren as an ambulance drove by. This signal is intended to ensure that first responders can pass through traffic unimpeded. But for me it was the signal to pray and to recognize the omnipresence and omnipotence of God. My prayer in that moment wasn’t long, but it was full of conviction—the conviction that God is All and that man is His spiritual idea. This oneness of God and His idea cannot be interrupted because it is supported by the authority of divine Truth.

Among the many things I’ve learned through my study of Christian Science is how to think correctly by knowing the truth about God and man in any given situation. I know that no thoughts can reach me other than those that have their source in divine Spirit, because only those are true and real. This keeps me spiritually minded and cognizant that I am a beloved child of God, as we all are. Mary Baker Eddy defines angels as “God’s thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 581). When I pray, when I affirm the presence and omnipotence of God, only these holy and pure “angel” thoughts from God come to me.

Once it looked as if I needed help—it seemed as though it was now I who needed an ambulance. But I was prepared! My consistent, grateful, wholehearted prayer affirming that my unity with God can never be interrupted, would not let fear take hold of me, and so I didn’t need to call an ambulance.
