Communing with God, the presence of pure goodness
In a world filled with conflicting messages coming at us from all different directions, life can often seem complicated and confusing. Even the many very useful modern inventions that make personal and worldwide communications easier can’t assure us as to whether what we are hearing is true or false, reliable or manipulative. To many people, though, communing with God may seem impossible to fit into an already overloaded schedule, while to others it may seem useless and impractical.
Yet, God is the presence of pure goodness speaking directly to each and every human consciousness. For me, quietly entertaining a reverent receptivity to God’s pure goodness far surpasses even the awe I have sometimes felt in a beautiful, calm, majestic setting in nature. In communing with God, I feel divine Love’s tender presence and care welling up within me and embracing me in a sense of worth that makes me simultaneously willing to recognize my shortcomings and able to overcome them. This pure goodness speaks to me anywhere at any time without the aid of a single human invention, always communicating only what is true and reliable, clarifying my thought to discern the difference between truth and falsehood, and thus keeping me safe from deception and manipulation.
We all need this divine help, and not only when some terrible thing happens. Communing with God in the trials of ordinary daily life can also lift us out of the worry, confusion, distraction, or fear that comes from trying to figure things out on our own without God.
