Met my need

[Russ Gerber, “Reacting to headlines,” Sentinel, July 23 & 30, 2018]

Russ’s editorial met my need and provides clarity for my prayers. I am also grateful for The Christian Science Monitor Daily. I find it helpful in sorting through current events. Mary Baker Eddy clearly cared about world news and, in my view, expected the Monitor’s readers to care about the “healing of the nations” (Revelation 22:2).

So blessed

I feel so blessed by The Christian Science Journal and Sentinel. The ideas shared by fellow Christian Scientists never fail to strengthen and help me.

I’m writing today about the July 16, 2018, Sentinel. I went first to Tony Lobl’s editorial, “Evil can never separate us from God,” addressing the murder of a dear friend; I, too, had struggled with the human sense of loss and absence of good. I had not thought of St. Stephen’s death by stoning, when “for a moment evil seemed to have triumphed over good,” but that is what I had felt, too, and needed to overcome. It was so helpful to see the thoughts that came to Tony as he prayed about this.

Other items in this Sentinel also poured in oil and wine, such as “Healing and freedom after abuse and trauma,” “Glimpse eternal Life and find freedom from grief,” and “Protected from assault.”
