Love in action
A billboard I drove past last year proclaimed that Christmas is “love in action.”
I began to think about what love in action looked like. Acts of kindness came to mind, such as helping others through financial giving or volunteering, and spending time to help family, friends, and neighbors. These are actions to be honored and cherished. But love in action must surely have a wider scope.
Christ Jesus said that the two great commandments are: first, to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength; and second, to love our neighbor as ourselves (see Mark 12:30–31). Tall order!
