Prayer reverses discouraging labels
When I attended elementary school, I was a shy, quiet child and didn’t seem to be very bright. In fact, I struggled in all subject areas, especially reading. Since there were seven children in our family, my mother had her hands full all the time and couldn’t give me much attention.
One day I overheard my fifth-grade teacher tell my parents that I was “the rotten apple of the bunch.” Since I wasn’t told anything different by my parents, that discouraging label stuck with me for many years. I felt inadequate and hungered to know something better about myself.
