My fresh awakening to timeless spiritual truth
I had written to a dear friend of mine and related the experience that follows. She suggested that I submit it to the Christian Science periodicals. After procrastinating a bit, I decided that I should do that without delay.
On the Sunday that the great professional golfer Arnold Palmer passed away, I got the unhappy news on TV that evening. I had never met him but had been a fan of his since the early sixties. That was when we got our first TV and I came to love golf. I felt saddened as I listened to some of the commentary about his life and achievements.
Then the thought came to pray about the sense of loss that so many in the world were feeling. I headed to my Bible and to Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I began my prayer with God and a heartfelt affirmation of the power of prayer—“with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
