A childhood healing
When I was a child, one morning before school I started experiencing intense discomfort in my stomach.
My dad was reading to me from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, and my family had seen many times before the healing effect of praying with those ideas. But I wasn’t focusing at all on what he was reading. I was more concerned with figuring out how to stop the pain by lying down on my side, adjusting my position, or by some other way.
When nothing worked, I lay down one last time, and I specifically remember making the decision simply to be still and to listen to the spiritual truths my dad was reading from Science and Health. So I turned wholeheartedly to the light of Truth. As I drank in the loving, powerful, and comforting words of the Christian Science textbook, explaining the Science of God’s allness and of man’s perfection, I quickly began to feel better. My thought grew calm, the stomachache went away, and I peacefully moved forward with my day as if nothing had happened.
