Reliable medicine
When a person needs healing, she or he wants to find help that is reliable, and that will leave no negative aftermath. That’s the kind of help Christ Jesus came to provide for humanity.
Jesus came to lead human thought to spiritual Truth—to the reality, or actual existence of Spirit, not matter, as the source of all the help we would ever need—to Spirit as the source of all that is good, and pure, and altogether harmless. This Truth was the medicine Jesus relied on in his healing and saving ministry. Every lesson Jesus taught, every healing he performed, and every life he transformed served to awaken human thought to spiritual Truth, which is God—the Truth that delivers us from the deceptions of material sense that underlie every sin, every disease, and every discord known to humanity. He said to those who would follow his teachings, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).
Jesus knew that one needs to keep one’s thought thoroughly grounded in spiritual Truth in order to keep oneself from being deceived by matter’s false representation of existence. Jesus’ teachings were filled with spiritual lessons designed to spiritualize and reform our thinking through Christ—to bring our consciousness and lives into conformity with spiritual Truth. It was clear to Jesus that Truth can destroy the falsehood, or deception, of matter—and its manifestation in sin and disease—only when it is understood and lived. And he proved for us that Truth is the one reliable medicine for the cure of every human ill—mental, physical, moral, social, political, etc.—universally.
