Daughter’s baby teeth normal again
When my first child was born, it did not occur to me to pray specifically about commonly held beliefs about the growth of babies and children. One was that children must suffer as their first set of teeth develops. When each daughter began to grow baby teeth, I simply expected to see the “practice” baby teeth grow in perfect harmony and without discomfort for the child. I thought that God’s love would not allow such discomfort to occur. God could not, does not, cause pain. There is only God’s love in action. This is what occurred.
When my older daughter was two, we went to a portrait studio. As we were getting ready to take the pictures, my daughter tumbled off a chair in which she was supposed to sit, hit her teeth on a table edge, and began to cry. I thanked the startled photographer for her time and made an appointment for another day.
The next morning, my daughter’s front teeth had turned a dark color, which really concerned me. I took her to a children’s dentist, who said her teeth were “dead.” He wanted to do extensive work to save the baby teeth.
