Mothering—a more expansive love
Shortly before Christmas a couple of years ago, I listened to a “Daily Lift” (produced by The First Church of Christ, Scientist). “Daily Lift” podcasts are short, inspiring audio segments. In this particular one, the speaker specifically focused on the motherhood of God. Throughout the days following, I held to that idea and really opened my thought to the mothering qualities of our Father-Mother God.
Even more than any dedicated mother would, our divine Mother, God, guides, shelters, comforts, embraces, reassures, empowers us, and gives us courage.
In an effort to expand my prayers globally, I began to include all mothers in my prayers. My prayers embraced the mothers I saw at the grocery store and the working moms in my office. I prayed to support every mother around the world who was praying for her child. I included mothers who had no one to pray for them. In each instance, I was praying to know that divine Love is guiding, healing, and meeting everyone’s human needs.
