Spiritual understanding dissolves lump
Some time ago, I noticed a lump on my breast and was concerned, knowing the dire medical predictions about that symptom. This came at a time of great upheaval in my family, and as a single working woman with very young grandchildren to care for, I knew I would not be able to add the burden of ill health to my already full set of responsibilities.
I called a Christian Science practitioner and told him about the lump. I also shared my confidence that prayerful treatment in Christian Science would dissolve the lump. He suggested I spend some time looking up the word fact in all of the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. The Oxford Dictionary online defines fact as “a thing that is known or proved to be true.”
Using a concordance to Eddy’s writings, I took the practitioner’s suggestion and looked up each of the 176 references to the word fact in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, as well as the more than 100 uses of that word in Eddy’s other writings.
