Spider bite healed
A number of months ago I woke up one morning with an alarming, unsightly sore on my leg. At some point—I’m not sure when—I had seen images of a brown recluse spider bite, and now these images were vividly apparent on my body. I prayed about the situation, but felt a creeping sense of fear as the condition was getting worse. So I asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray with me.
Through prayer we challenged the belief that God’s universe could be poisoned in any way. We realized that His universe—the universe of infinite Spirit, of divine Love—is the only genuine reality and is completely pure. The conviction that something other than God, Spirit, fills all space is false, a misunderstanding about the nature of Love, which is omnipresent.
The practitioner and I further reasoned that as Spirit’s image, I could reflect only the pure substance of Spirit. That substance could not be malformed, discolored, or infected in any way. Neither I, nor any of God’s creatures, could include any toxic elements, not even a trace of hostility or poison. Nothing but God’s sweet goodness could be experienced by His creation. We also affirmed in prayer that there were no toxins that could shut down or threaten our God-directed, God-protected prayers.
