Strength regained

This is adapted from a testimony originally posted during The Mother Church’s online Wednesday testimony meeting.

I’d like to express gratitude for a healing that I had some time ago that really proved to me that God is my help and strength. Over a period of several months, I noticed that I just didn’t have the strength and ability to do many of my normal activities. At the time, I was raising three active children and was very involved in my community and my church. It increasingly became difficult to keep up with all that I needed to do. Eventually, it became hard to walk or open a jar.

I called a Christian Science practitioner to pray with me during this time. I cannot say how grateful I am for her compassion and persistence as she provided Christian Science treatment for me. As I was praying myself, it became clear to me that I needed to really handle the aggressive suggestion that I could become a hopeless invalid.

As I considered this, I began to realize that my identity—my very being—could not be made “invalid.” That realization leaped out at me as a Christian Scientist. I could clearly see that my right to be and do freely and joyously was my heritage as God’s beloved child. God had given me my “validation,” and it is perpetual and eternal. This condition of what God has created spiritually could never change.
