Awake from illusions and be free
It happens every time I go through our local car wash. I put on the brakes where the giant scrub machine is working, because it looks and even feels as if the car is going backward. When I can briefly see out the car wash side windows at the parked cars and gas pumps, it’s obvious that the car is stationary and the scrub machine is moving forward.
The illusion is very instructive. Things aren’t always what they appear to be. The physical senses present illusions. But our knowledge of what’s really going on enables us to see through the illusion.
A growing understanding of the nature of God as good and perfect, as infinite and all-powerful, which the Bible reveals, enables us more and more to see through another kind of illusion—the apparent reality of inharmony, whatever form it may assume in our lives. Because God is supreme, infinite good, in the truest sense discord in any form is illusion. It has no actual reality, no God-given or God-supported power or influence.
