Protected and upheld
When I get up in the middle of the night, I often try to affirm some metaphysical truth concerning God and His creation, whether this involves praying for a certain close-to-home situation or for the world.
While staying at a condo in Florida recently, I got up one night and needed to go down a flight of stairs. As I left the bedroom, this thought came to me: “One God, one manifestation.” I had never really said or thought those words together before, but I had been thinking about the subject of manifestation off and on for many months.
In her definitive book on Christian healing, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy states: “As human thought changes from one stage to another of conscious pain and painlessness, sorrow and joy,—from fear to hope and from faith to understanding,—the visible manifestation will at last be man governed by Soul, not by material sense” (p. 125).
