A transformative first healing
One day, many years ago, I was working in a music store when I started having the symptoms of the flu. My husband and I had recently made friends with a couple who were Christian Scientists, and we had begun attending a local branch Church of Christ, Scientist. So I contacted the mother of our friends, who was also a Christian Scientist, and asked for help.
She told me to find a quiet place to go to and pray the Lord’s Prayer (see Matthew 6:9–13), and that she would pray with me. I found a quiet room in the store and asked for permission to take a break since I wasn’t feeling well.
After repeating the Lord’s Prayer for some time, I suddenly felt all the flu symptoms leave my body. I returned to work helping customers, feeling a complete sense of well-being. In fact, I felt a strong spiritual presence and that I was engulfed in an overwhelming awareness of divine Love. It is not easy to explain this experience, but I have always remembered it as my first healing in Christian Science.
