Freed from tooth pain

A year ago, after having a crown placed on a tooth, I was surprised and dismayed to find that the tooth was very painful. I had prayed a lot before the crown was put in, and was grateful to have overcome the fear I’d felt about the dental work. When the pain appeared, I worked prayerfully again.

Through my study of Christian Science, I have learned that my true identity is spiritual, made in the image and likeness of God, not a material form composed of bones and nerves. Further, I knew that disease or distress of any kind does not originate in or come from God, who is divine Mind, but from mortal mind, which is the source of all the lies presented about man’s true spiritual nature and identity.

Although I returned to the dentist to see if the crown needed adjusting and was referred to a specialist, neither had a solution. As a lifelong Christian Scientist, I know that applying what is true about me as God made me brings healing to any discordant situation, and I expected that in this case as well. In addition to studying the weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson, I read articles in the Sentinel and The Christian Science Journal, and I used the wealth of resources found on JSH-Online. All of these comforted and inspired me. I also called my Christian Science teacher for prayerful support.
