Christian Science treatment brings instant relief from acute sickness
Some years ago, while in the United States Army, I had the opportunity to perform special training with new air defense equipment the government was evaluating with a large civilian company. I was very excited about this opportunity, but one day while having lunch in the cafeteria, I suddenly noticed some minor discomfort in my stomach. It didn’t disturb me much, so I returned to the classroom to continue the training session.
The illness got worse, though, and I remember a fellow soldier looking at me and saying, “You don’t look well at all.” I was perspiring and felt the pain in my stomach intensifying, so I decided to excuse myself and proceed to the restroom to pray and to rinse my face with some cool water. Fortunately we were the only people in the building that day, and there was no traffic coming in or out of the restroom. At this point, however, all I could do was lie on the floor in agony, which seemed so intense that I could not even pray or think clearly.
I knew I needed to get to a phone and call a Christian Science practitioner. The walk to the barracks, where the phone was located, led along the other side of a small field, and it was difficult for me, as I tried to walk as erect as possible, to conceal my condition. I reached the barracks and called the practitioner, and when she answered the phone, I could only say to her, “Help! I ate something bad. Help me!”
