A natural next step
Although I grew up in a Christian Science Sunday School and had wonderful healings of childhood diseases through the prayers of my mother and a devoted Christian Science practitioner, it wasn’t until I was healed of a serious physical problem as an adult that I stood in awe of the power of the Word of God as revealed to Mary Baker Eddy. I was also healed of a sense of guilt. I wanted to know how the practitioner’s prayer had purified my consciousness and my body. My thought was uplifted, and bad habits dropped.
I knew that students are taught how to give healing treatment during Christian Science Primary class instruction, and I felt I was now ready for this step. Friends of mine had taken class shortly after graduating from college, and I saw that you didn’t have to be retirement age to reap its benefits.
In prayerfully and quietly searching for a teacher, I was led to discuss the desire with my former Sunday School teacher. He had been so clear in his explanations of Science that I felt he would guide me. It turned out he had become an authorized teacher of Christian Science two years earlier. I applied and was accepted into his next class.
