No evidence of the burn

Words cannot begin to express my gratitude to our dear Father-Mother for Christian Science and its healing power. I give all “thanks …[to] God for his unspeakable gift” (II Corinthians 9:15).

About a year ago I was preparing supper for my family. I turned the oven on to cook and in about 20 minutes came back to put supper in the oven. I had forgotten that I had stored an iron skillet in the oven, and when I tried to put the meal in, I discovered the skillet.

Without even realizing what I was doing, I grabbed the skillet by the handle and immediately felt a burning sensation. I calmly put the skillet down and turned directly to God. I silently and audibly declared that there is no sensation in matter. I just remained calm, holding on to “the divine Truth that makes man free.” Mary Baker Eddy writes, “A Christian Scientist’s medicine is Mind, the divine Truth that makes man free” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 453).

Within just a few minutes the burning sensation subsided. When I looked at my hand, there was no redness and no evidence of the burn. I did not suffer any lasting sensation; I was completely free.

This is just one small proof—if there is any such thing as a small proof—that Christian Science heals and that we are indeed “clad in the panoply of Love,” as Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health
(p. 571).
