Joy in obeying God
For me, the story of the Hebrew people in the Bible is captivating. I love to read and learn about how God’s power was expressed in the lives of the Hebrews, in the lives of their prophets, their kings, and their society.
While there are plenty of themes running throughout the Bible, perhaps one of the most evident threads is the importance of obedience to God. The Old Testament reveals the joy of obeying God—of hearing His voice, listening to His direction, and following His instructions. When the people were obedient, there was spiritual advancement. When they were disobedient, they suffered and languished.
Most of us want to be obedient. Most want to do the right thing, say the right thing, and take the right steps. However, there are times when we may feel pulled between two seemingly right decisions. We may feel unsure of which way to go, even if we desire to listen to God and follow His direction.
