‘The consciousness of good’ that dispels fear
When we are faced with a difficult situation, we may initially feel a sense of fear and helplessness, perhaps even a feeling that any hope for a good outcome to our situation is impossible. However, no matter how we may feel, we are never helpless, nor is fear any part of our true, God-given being. The right understanding that our life is spiritual and good, and is under God’s loving and omnipotent control, dispels fear and restores harmony.
The Bible instructs us not to fear but to put all our trust in God. In Isaiah we read, “Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any” (44:8). And in Psalms we read, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (27:1).
The fear I had been feeling was replaced with a conscious awareness that only good was present.
