Ear and throat pain quickly healed

I was raised in Christian Science, attended Christian Science Sunday School, had been an active member in a Christian Science Organization while at university, was a member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and had experienced some wonderful healings throughout my life, but I had postponed taking Primary class instruction for many years. When I did go through class, I learned more about the unselfed practice of Christian Science in those two weeks than I had in decades.

In Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, states: “One thing I have greatly desired, and again earnestly request, namely, that Christian Scientists, here and elsewhere, pray daily for themselves; not verbally, nor on bended knee, but mentally, meekly, and importunately” (p. 127). Thinking about this and putting into practice some of the lessons I learned in class, I have learned of the importance of daily importunate yearning for a clearer understanding of man as the expression of God, who is omnipotent, divine Love.

I recently had a healing that I can attribute to some of the ideas I better understood through class, especially the importance of doing daily work for ourselves. Several fellow church members and I were chatting about favorite Bible stories, and I mentioned the story of the woman healed when she touched the hem of Christ’s garment (see Luke 8:43–48).
