Healing for family pets

In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy defines angels as “God’s thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality” (p. 581). The Bible tells of the qualities of two angels in particular: the angel Gabriel, who imparts God’s great love, and the angel Michael, who exemplifies “spiritual strength” (Science and Health, p. 566). Listening to uplifting angel thoughts from God always brings healing and deliverance. In the Bible, Daniel prayerfully listens to the angels Gabriel and Michael for help in understanding the word of God (see Daniel 9:21, 22 and 10:18–21). I’m very grateful for a time when three generations in our family were listening to angel messages and found healing.

About ten years ago my niece and her two young daughters called in tears, asking me to pray for their dear cat, Speckles. Speckles had been struck by a car, and her head was badly damaged. The veterinarian had given them a hopeless picture. We agreed to lift our thoughts above this physical scene, and to listen to God’s angel messages, affirming that God’s spiritual creation was inhabited by perfect creatures, including a perfect Speckles.

The very next day Speckles’s face and head regained their normal appearance. We were so grateful that healing was occurring. My niece called again with concern about the possibility of infection. We rejected this fear together and prayerfully acknowledged Speckles’s purity and perfection. Speckles continued to regain her normal appearance and activity. The next day, my niece called to report that Speckles wasn’t eating. I told her not to be afraid, and we continued praying together. Speckles started eating the next morning and soon had a complete healing. How grateful we were—my niece was especially grateful that her daughters had been able to see this wonderful proof of healing in Christian Science.
