Healing of back strain
Recently, I was on vacation with my family in California. When we were packing up the car to head home, I suddenly strained my back while loading luggage. I could no longer move easily, and my back became very stiff.
My husband helped me into the passenger seat and got me settled with a pillow. We had about two hours to drive to our next stop, and I was glad to have that time to pray.
There are plenty of material means for dealing with pain and injury, but I’ve always found that prayer—the scientific prayer we learn about in Christian Science—is an effective and immediate help, because it gets down to the real cause of disease. The Christian Science textbook explains, “The cause of all so-called disease is mental, a mortal fear, a mistaken belief or conviction of the necessity and power of ill-health; also a fear that Mind is helpless to defend the life of man and incompetent to control it” (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 377).
