Deep messages

[“I refused to choose insanity,” Ginny Nilsen, July 22 & 29, 2013, Sentinel]

This article has some deep messages about how one can think more metaphysically rather than live life with knee-jerk reactionary thinking.

Lovely image

[“We have His word,” Ann Sebring, July 22 & 29, 2013, Sentinel]

I love this poem!

I also love the image the editors chose to illustrate it: a grand, ancient, immovable, solid rock, indicative of Truth’s immutability; a few trees with soft green leaves, reminiscent of ever-and-everywhere-generating Life; and a river that sparkles and cleanses and flows at Love’s behest.

Confidence in peace

[“Defusing the bombs,” Nathan Talbot, July 15, 2013, Sentinel]

Thank you for the originality and spiritual simplicity in these ideas. They are helping us directly confront the nature of evil and its claim to have power to victimize, and to see how the “bombs” can be diffused. I’m left with confidence that peace is a power. God’s power.

Enjoying the poems

I have so much enjoyed the poems in the periodicals lately that I must send my thanks to you—and to the authors—for these treasures. Most recently, the poem, “I the Lord thy God …,” by Sue Spotts in the August 2013 Christian Science Journal has been with me daily, a unique and needed perspective on God’s love for man. I have often referred to “What if each day were a poem?” by Lois Carlson, in the February 4, 2013, Sentinel, as I begin my day. And the glorious poem by Laura Remmerde in the November 19, 2012, Sentinel, “The geometry of praise,” has uplifted me countless times. I know it by heart, and every time I ponder it, I discover new insights. The beautiful images in this poem, the deep layers of meaning, and most of all, the profound and humble sincerity and gratitude that shine through, make my spirits soar.

These are just the highlights. There are many other poems I have loved and saved. I also appreciate your recent practice of placing each poem on its own page accompanied by a beautiful photograph. This gives the poems the visual distinction they deserve and helps draw attention to their wonderful messages.
