Comforting articles

I want to say thank you for two side-by-side articles in the February 4 Sentinel: Lynne Cook’s “Peace as a river,” and Maggie Thomas’s “ ‘Under the shadow of the Almighty.’ ” As the mom of a soldier currently serving in Afghanistan, I found both articles wonderfully comforting. Also, a little late, I’d like to say thank you for the November 5 Sentinel,Honoring those who serve.” How much I appreciate the loving support expressed for all our men and women who serve in the military.

Inspired by chat

[“Dealing with debt and financial fears,” Sentinel audio chat with Tom McElroy, January 22, 2013]

Thank you for a very inspiring chat. I enjoyed hearing of your life experiences. They really illustrate how practical Christian Science is. I always find that no matter what the topic of the chat is, the metaphysical truths that are shared are always enriching and applicable to whatever is going on in my thought and life. I really liked your idea that prayer is the tuning in to right ideas and that those right ideas bring solutions. Thank you, Tom!

Terrific answer

Christa Kreutz’s article (January 7, 2013, Sentinel) “What is church for?” includes a terrific answer: “Church is that sacred moment and space to serve with the unselfed love that Jesus
showed us as the way to salvation.” She also reminds us that “serving the world, one’s brothers and sisters, is serving God and bringing us closer to an understanding and experience of God.” Fabulous thoughts to cherish and demonstrate as we journey through a new year.

Missing the kitten icon

My 7-year-old niece, who is just learning to read, used to rush with enthusiasm to open every Sentinel she saw to look for the kitten icon designating an article for children.

Please, reinstate that beckoning symbol in the new version.

It’s a small but very big thing to help beginning readers find themselves spoken to in the table of contents!

Recharged

[“Conquering fatigue through prayer, “ Ruanne Y. Gentry, June 16, 1980, Sentinel

Thank you for this great article! I have also noticed that if I’m tempted to feel fatigued, if I can turn my thought to the activity of Love, i.e., if my activity is motivated by divine Love, I will be recharged!
