Dealing with debt and financial fears

Live audio chat with Tom McElroy, C.S.

In his opening comments, Tom speaks about having lived through times in his life when he had very little money and other times when he had a surplus of income. Yet through all those times he says, “the good in my life was consistent. Even if the finances were up and down, I don’t remember having to feel fearful, lacking, or without the essential qualities of good in life. It was always there.” Since God gives us infinite good all the time, Tom says each of us can “find consistent good in a way that’s reliable and that we can count on.”

Tom answers questions on a range of topics, such as avoiding bankruptcy and struggling to deal with impossibly massive debt; how to know if God is truly directing a financial path forward; getting over bitterness when younger colleagues make a higher salary; healing personal guilt and self-condemnation for taking so long to repay debts; how baby boomers can restore money lost in the economic downturn; making wise investments; and how we can pray about the financial problems plaguing government budgets and the global economy.
