Bibles for China

China. “I have believed  in Jesus for 20 years with no Bible.” Those are the words of Yanqiu Yang, who lives in the Henan Province of China. For many of us, the thought of being without a Bible that long is unthinkable. Sadly, because Bibles are so scarce, especially in remote areas, this is a way of life for many believers like Yanqiu. “I was always eager to learn about heaven and God. But I couldn’t do it,” Yanqiu says. “Getting my first Bible was like getting a key to many locks. It was a very precious treasure.”

Yanqiu’s words rang true during many touching moments 71-year-old Yu Soon Sing experienced as she joined a Bible distribution trip across the Yunnan’s mountainous areas of China. Describing her journey, Yu says every stop gave “a glimpse of the extent of longing for the Word of God.

“At Panhe Church, the congregation was waiting patiently for us,” Yu continues. “Local ladies, dressed in traditional Miao costumes, cheerfully stood waiting in the rain to welcome us. As we began to distribute Bibles, everyone received their copy with a beaming smile—some even shed tears of joy.”
