Allergy symptoms healed
My adult daughter called me one night several months ago, sounding terrible. She was suffering from allergies and indicated that she really needed to be well for the next day in order to do her work effectively. She is an artist, and she was scheduled to help a friend with a seasonal outdoor painting project.
We talked together about how she was an expression of God, and I reminded her that a perfect, pure expression is free from suffering. I also told her that I would gladly continue to pray for her.
During the middle of the night a hymn by Mary Baker Eddy came to mind. It was one of my favorites: “Mother’s Evening Prayer” (Number 207 in the Christian Science Hymnal). What came to me wasn’t the whole hymn . . . just the first three words: “O gentle presence.” They kept repeating over and over in my mind, and then a thought came to me that I should get up and look in the dictionary to see exactly what “gentle” means. Well, I did look it up—and I discovered that one of the definitions of gentle is “free from harsh conditions.”
