Leg pain quickly healed
I have often been attracted by the power of prayer when I am seeking an answer to an issue. I particularly love to look to the example of Daniel in the Bible. He had immense spirituality, especially when he resisted negative pressure from people to turn away from God. He lived at a time when neither the kings nor the people recognized the real God who deserves respect.
I recently learned a valuable lesson from the story of Daniel in the lions’ den. One day while I was at work repairing the flooring of a house, I was struck by a sudden pain in my leg. It was so intense that I could not stand. I immediately prayed silently to God, knowing that He has promised to protect His children. My co-workers were with me, but I didn’t say anything to them at first. My thought stayed firmly on divine protection against any evil. As Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 1). I also went directly to the Lord’s Prayer as our Master, Jesus Christ, taught. The first two lines stood out to me, along with Mrs. Eddy’s spiritual interpretation of them:
