'Clear as a trumpet' inspiration heals
I’d like to share one of the first healings I experienced in Christian Science. It’s in the spirit of “when all else fails, read the directions.”
I had just begun reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, when I suddenly became very ill. I was disoriented, couldn’t stand without falling over. My first thought was, “What does that book say I should do?” It was pointing out to me that God made everything that was made, as the Bible declares so plainly.
I reasoned that God created me and gave me everything I have; therefore, I had two choices about what to believe: Either God gave me this illness, or He didn’t. I knew He didn’t. But here’s where Science and Health came to my rescue. Ordinarily I would have thought, He didn’t give me this illness, so prayer can heal it. But that’s not what the “directions” in Science and Health were telling me.
