From limping to running
One evening, as I stood talking with my daughter in the kitchen, I noticed a slight pain in my left leg. I didn’t give it much thought, but by the time I went to bed that night, the pain was more noticeable. The next morning, though I could go up and down stairs, the pain had increased.
I had to drive three hours to another city to attend a conference. As I drove, I listened to the Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly and hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal Supplement. About two hours into the drive, when I stopped at a rest area, it was difficult to get out of the car, and I was beginning to walk with a limp.
I didn’t think it was a coincidence that two weeks earlier I’d attended my Christian Science students’ association meeting, and our topic had been “Walking in the Light of God,” which we learned meant walking in Love and walking with Love. Our association meeting had been inspiring, and I was feeling close to God, at one with divine Love. When we are growing spiritually, sometimes we face challenges to our progress.
