Be steadfast

When we were growing up, my sister and I were ballet dancers. We would sometimes get very discouraged because we would go to our classes every single day and would work so hard—but we didn’t always see the results of our work.
Our mom had been a dancer, too, and one day she began to talk to us about the way that you progress in dance: through steps so gradual that they aren’t noticeable on a day-to-day basis. Then, suddenly, one day, there’s a breakthrough. You find yourself jumping higher, turning more, holding a position with greater strength. And that’s not because of what you did that day, but because of all the work you did on the days when progress was not apparent. She urged us to keep working and promised us that we would see the results—and we did!
