I thank God

One day I had fun in our room while my sister ironed her clothes. At one point, I took a wrong step toward the iron and got burned. It was a big burn and my sister was concerned. I took the Bible and Science and Health, and I began to pray as I always do.

My parents supported me, telling me that God certainly would heal me. Psalm 121 was a great help:  “I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord” (verses 1, 2, New King James Version). I told myself that I am the image and likeness of God. God could not be hurt, so neither could I. God protects me all the time.

I prayed with the Lord’s Prayer and also the prayers for children by Mary Baker Eddy, which told me that God guards each of our steps (see Miscellaneous Writings, p. 400). I finished by reading “the scientific statement of being” from Science and Health (see  p. 468). This helped me see that God did not create any hurt. I felt at peace, without fear. Quickly, the pain stopped. I could go to school. Two days later, after I continued to pray, the injury was completely healed. I showed my mom. She was amazed and happy. For this blessing, I thank God.
