A summer camp night
Glistening lake,
long lake,
washing over a beautiful beach.
In my mind I can picture
the gazebo standing on its stretch of land,
the waves lapping the top of the sandbar
back and forth
back and forth
back and forth.
I can almost hear it,
even feel it drawing me near.
God is here.
A blue hue outside my cabin window.
The lake is waiting for me.
What should I do tomorrow?
Rock climb?
Dance?
Maybe sail?
I can hear the pleasant sounds of nightfall,
the loons crooning,
and the crickets’ sweet melodies.
Even the frogs are out, tuning in to the song,
God’s song,
majestic
majestic
majestic.
The wind whistles,
and the waves clap.
A peaceful feeling washes over me,
making my eyes lazy.
I watch outside the window as each star comes out.
The clear night sky promises another good day tomorrow.
God’s sheltering arm protects me
as I close my eyes...
